Review of Justice League vs. Teen Titans (2016) by J A — 08 May 2016
This movie feels like the product of the world's worst focus group. There are so many awkward / out of place scenes, I can only imagine it was pieced together by a bunch of out-of-touch suits who googled "what do the kids like".
It's got it all; A "montage" with bad 90's emo rock, a Dance Dance Rev scene (with bad, fake pop music), an incredibly awkward Sailor Moon-esq transformation scene (complete with sparkles), which I'm convinced was added only so some perverted writer could work in a close-up of Starfire's crotch.
Seriously though, the way the female leads are written...man, it's bad. Actually, everyone is written horribly. Basically, the charm and wit that used to be hallmarks of the DC animated universe seem to have been replaced with cliches, moody teenage brooding and fan service.
If DC keeps this up, Marvel's going to steal the animated crown in addition to their domination in the theaters.
