Review of Justice League vs. Teen Titans (2016) by James R — 02 Jul 2016
One of the better animated Justice League films to come out in recent years. Continuing the story set with Justice League: War (2014) and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015) this time around we get an introduction of the iconic Team Titans team.
Robin (Stuart Allen) is sent to the Titans Tower to learn about team work. There he meets the Titans leader Starfire (Kari Wahlgren) along with Blue Beetle (Jake T. Austin), Raven (Taissa Farmiga) and Beast Boy (Brandon Soo Hoo).
The entire arch of this movie is about Ravens demonic father Trigon (Jon Bernthal) attempting to cross over into Earth by channeling his energy through Raven. Trigon sends out his minions who take control of the Justice League members which include Batman (Jason O'Mara), Wonder Woman (Rosario Dawson), The Flash (Christopher Gorham) and Cyborg (Shemar Moore).
Notably absent is Shazam, Aquaman and Green Lantern, but hey they have other jobs to do right? Anywho, the animation is wonderful in this one and the action is really well done too. I enjoyed the fact that for once we get some character development.
We learn a lot about Raven and its her scenes involving her and Trigon that really make the film. We see a lot of compassion fro her side, but a lot of regret knowing about the history of her father and mother.
Overall, a fantastic film and I hope they do explore the Titans a bit especially with the arrival of a certain somebody during the credits! Highly recommend checking this one out for fans of the DC animated films!
