Review of Justice League: Gods and Monsters (2015) by Elane W — 18 Nov 2017
DC outdoes themselves again with another animated entry of the Trinity.
It's essentially an Elseworld story; what if things went differently than what we normally saw for these superheroes?
The opening starts with General Zod wanting to excel in genetics superiority to save Krypton then we cut to Earth where Superman lands but instead is raised by a migrant couple, Batman uses more violent tactics to subdue his enemies and he has a thirst for blood, lastly, Wonder Woman is Becca instead of Diana that uses a motherboard sword.
The other characters we know and love lead very different lives and a majority of them are being slain by an unknown group of assailants implicating the Trinity in the process.
There are gods in this film as well as monsters that exist in one form or another.
Would it be better for mankind to act as a single unit without hate or corruption?
The voice acting is always superb, this is some of the best animation I've seen for a straight-to-video release, and saving the world in an alternate reality can still be possible.
It's also the most adult story told so far which should please a majority of young viewers and older ones.
