Review of Juno and the Paycock (1930) by Ralph R — 22 Mar 2008
This is an excellent drama from Alfred Hitchcock, very much out of the usual material we're used to from him.
The filming of the play is unfortunately very stagey, and Hitchcock was reportedly very unhappy with the excellent reviews it received. If you can get past the staginess of the framing and cinematography, Sean O'Casey's play is a gripping character study which holds up well.
