Review of Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) by Nikolas Z — 24 Apr 2006
The user opinions are precisely what I expected. The great divide between those who think this movie is brilliant, and those who view it as a piece of shit. Personally, I cannot be torn from the improvisational honesty of this movie.
It is brilliant in the sense that, its a new hybrid between artistry, and directing. It blurs what was once expected from a movie. Expected or not, this strange experimentation should not be done any more by Harmony, as viewers are linking Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy as essentially the same concept.
