Review of Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) by Josh N — 19 Aug 2008
I kind of liked Herzog's ridiculous performance as the abusive patriarch (particularly when he is rhapsodically describing the end of "Dirty Harry"), and Ewen Bremner is actually quite good as the donkey boy, but Harmony Korine is so inept at putting all of the disparate pieces together I don't buy for a second that these characters constitute a "family", dysfunctional or otherwise.
