Review of Julien Donkey-Boy (1999) by Kalle-Petter W — 06 Jan 2009
Werner Herzog and Ewen Bremner shine through the film about a messed-up family. And as one would expect from Harmony Korine's film, especially shot under the Dogma95 -concept, the viewer will feel certain discomfort through the whole film.
But as Korine fails to put in enough great scenes that would balance the lack of narrative direction, the discomfort factor can't carry the film through, like it did at times in Gummo.
