It's smart and funny and moving in unexpected ways. Streep and Tucci are amazing together. Linda Emonds also delights with what should be a unnoticed role. The sense of period and the food itself is done perfectly.
It is the contemporary story that slightly disappoints, not in the initial watching but afterwards. I have gone for several days with scenes and lines popping into my head, but they were all of Julia and never Julie.
