Review of Julie & Julia (2009) by Valda R — 14 Oct 2017
I've just read My Life in France. I'm a bit shocked that Nora Ephron allowed Meryl Streep to turn Julia Child into a crazy scatterbrain. Her performance is clownish and does not reflect Julia's charm and her incredible joire de vivre.
I know that the movie has to skip a great deal to fit a 2 hour framework but the screenplay totally lacks continuity and depth. The acting of both women verges on slapstick. It's shallow and insulting especially to the integrity of Julia Child, in particular.
