Review of Jules and Jim (1962) by Larry M — 20 Jun 2007
If only we could speak to each other with the candor and frankness Jules and Jim exhibit. Sure - the dialogue is stiffly deliberate, and patently so in constrast to modern cinema. But its classically New Wave narration technique relieves these moments of viewer awkwardness, which produces a joyful, almost carefree affect - similar to what we often find in Wes Anderson films.
