Review of Joy (2015) by Christopher B — 30 Jul 2016
It is not David O Russell's finest two hours. The story is half unfocused and half undercooked in its intimate drama. There are some good performances and compelling moments that develop mainly because of Jennifer Lawrence's continue reign as a great performer but that barely happens when most of the supporting characters are flat or unlikable, and the direction here lacks the punch, balance and charm of O' Russell's previous work.
