Review of Joy (2015) by Lanfranco C — 07 Dec 2018
I think the movie was trying to be an epic feminist tale of a self made female millionaire, but it came off as "meh" ... what I got from it is "yeah that's nice for her that she found success with her invention, and I feel bad for her that some of her family members are truly despicable people.
" As for the acting, I was impressed with Deniro's performance. I think they should have gone with an older actress for Jennifer Lawrence's role, I kept forgetting that the girl was supposed to be her daughter because Jennifer didn't look old enough to have a daughter that age.
Also Jennifer's acting... was she supposed to come off as severely depressed/shell shocked/ not responding to any outside stimuli throughout the movie? I don't know, but that's how she came across.
Very boring.
