Review of Journey From the Fall (2007) by Chris T — 18 Jun 2007
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you don't relate to the story, you will probably be struck as I was by the dreary monotone of the emotion in this film- do vietnamese people do anything but suffer? There is a way to tell these stories without being so blatantly tear-jerky, but perhaps the question is why bother when recycling the tropes of the genre works just fine for the target audience.
That said, this is a story which goes tragically unknown to most people, and deserves more attention than it gets. Perhaps it would get more attention if it were treated in a manner with more crossover appeal, but it seems the filmmakers considered this too great an artistic sacrifice to make.
