Review of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) by Corey N — 16 Feb 2010
This is one of those sci-fi movies that people hate or like. Not sure if anyone really loves it. But you never know. I am on the like borderline. This film had potential to be something much better. But in the end it was decent.
Stars Keanu Reeves as a courier of information that gets stored into his brain. But when one of his jobs goes sour and a group wants the info in his head he is on the run. The story seems to be set in a future of hi-tech gadets and computers.
But you also have many scenes of the dark and downtrodden city. Keanu Reeves gives a solid performance. Other than him the cast does not have many other big names. You get Dolph Lundgren Ice-T, Dina Meyer and Henry Rollins all playing bit parts.
Some action in this. The F/X is okay. The story interesting enough. Overall a decent sci-fi movie. Though I would only watch this if your into sci-fi movies or are a Keanu Reeves fan.
