Review of John Oliver: Terrifying Times (2008) by Christopher S — 12 Feb 2012
One of the best stand-up routines I have seen in the last 10 years. I still cannot believe John Oliver does not have a show of his own like Stephen Colbert does. I thought Oliver might have the personality and the strength to carry a spin-off show like Colbert has given Oliver's contributions to the Daily Show.
Some of the bits by Oliver in this stand-up special still make me laugh, none harder than his take on US foreign policy under George W. Bush. "Kenya has three apples. US wants three apples. How many apples does Kenya have?" This is multiple choice but all answers end with zero.
Hilarious. I also loved Oliver's take on FOX News and how Bush could help the peace process in the Middle East. Still going strong on the Daily Show, I cannot wait to for the next John Oliver special.
