Never read the book and judging by the film, I don't know that it would have helped anyway. This is a strange strange movie but not unenjoyable. I was intrigued to keep watching just to find out if it went anywhere. It ultimately went somewhere... I guess but the road to get there was very disorganized and bizarre. This will be a cult classic 10 to 15 years from now in the same vein as Rocky Horror, Evil Dead, etc. Just don't expect anything at all from this and you'll be fine. Also.

The one premise of the movie, you know, the title, doesn't happen. So there's that.
