I read the book in the 50 's as a boy, in fact all of Ned's books. I really like the movie simply because of the subject matter, however the cutting room floor and finances is probably why so much is missing.

I would have left the original opening scenes I think. It requires reading the book to understand some of the transitions and several key chapters from the book are missing which would help with context and connectivity.

I hope Disney comes back and produces Warlord of Mars as a sequel.
