Review of Joe's Apartment (1996) by Nikolai E — 23 Aug 2009
When you're stuck with a concept as clearly flat-out retarded as this one, you really have no choice but to throw it as hard as you can and hope it sticks to something. The film's a little hung up on the poo-poo and pee-pee jokes, but overall I was pretty impressed with just how far they managed to push it.
Honestly, the effects actually date pretty well, and it's one of those cases where there's so many throwaway gags at least one in ten are going to work just through the law of averages. Plus, it's Kafkaesque AND Swiftian.
