Laura Linney and Gabriel Byrne give fine performances, and have a good dynamic together, but "Jindabyne" is too slow moving, and failed to grasp my interest until an hour or so into the picture.
The second half of the film is a bit more satisfying, for it shows the repercussions of the characters choices.
