Review of Jigsaw (2017) by Ricky R — 28 Oct 2017
Jigsaw is an exercise in brutality and in the end, with nary a victim to truly root for, it becomes an exercise in brutality for no other reason than satisfying longtime fans' desire for shock and awe.
The gore is decent though, curiously, a few of the kills happen off screen, the aftermath left to goad viewers onward. The acting in this film is a step up from some of the acting in previous entries, namely solid performances from Matt Passmore and Laura Vandervoot.
The film plays with the audience in clever ways and thankfully ditches that green hue prevelant in most of the previous films for most of the film's runtime. It isn't anything ground breaking but it is still a good horror offering.
