Review of Jigsaw (2017) by Brendan N — 16 Jan 2018
I'll give the film some points for recycling a lot of the story elements from number 2 and 4 but this franchise has become increasingly too much. The delay hasn't improved the franchise, they didn't even need to go away for the duration that they did.
All the franchise needs to do is create a storyline that isn't convoluted with twists and turns. The first film succeeded in creating a villain with purpose while delivering some purpose for the storyline, something the rest of the series forgot to do.
I thought the conclusion was well done but that's the issue with the series, it plays boredom until the big conclusion which brings everything neatly together. The series needed to come out of hibernation with a bang instead of a general sequel that serves no real purpose.
Maybe next time they will do better with the franchise and bring in some storytellers without the excessive need of torture. 15/01/2018.
