Review of Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (2001) by Rob D — 07 Oct 2007
This movie is like Dogma with absolutely no taste, no money, but a shitload of style. And thankfully it was totally entertaining without being overly blasphemous. It simply rocks harder than antyhing around.
It's Jesus laying it down against lesbian vampires and athiests! It all borrows heavily from the style of low budget 70s exploitation films, and to great success. If it weren't for some present day polotics, wardrobe, and a newer car here and there, it could completely pass for a 70s film.
The sound effects are incredible, as is the brilliant technique of doing ADR on every spoken word. Just superbly awful in every way. It makes me so happy that there is a filmmaker who puts time and effort into something that is purposely putrid and wrong.
