Review of Jeremiah Johnson (1972) by Mike K — 09 Jan 2015
One of the most fascinating westerners ever made. Long periods without dialogue as we watch a man learn to live by his own resources and what nature will allow. Will Geer delivers a wonderful performance as Chris who tutors Johnson in the ways of the mountain men.
Hoping to live a life of solitude he comes to have a family that he didn't want but learns to love. when they are taken he becomes a legend as he fights the Crow, who killed them. Redford's performance is subtle and engaging.
I can't stop watching it.
