Review of Jeremiah Johnson (1972) by Originaldanger — 05 Sep 2020
Jeremiah Johnson is a 1972 film starring Robert Redford as the main character.. The film has beautiful scenery, quite a bit of snow and mountain scenery and some sad moments and some happy moments... I would classify it's genre as an adventure but Western I don't know but who cares because it's a decent film.
Some Indians offer some lady as Robert Redford's wife then butcher her not long after and a child. The Indians have a habit of butchering everybody including women, children and even Jeremiah Johnson himself played by Redford however they fail in killing him as he takes down one at a time.
I'd say it's fairly violent with a few upsetting moments but as a whole the film is pretty solid with great acting by Robert Redford. Beautiful scenery and it shows you how Jeremiah Johnson survives in the most horrible conditions and lives off the land or surrounding areas by killing animals to eat.
All the characters even the evil Indians are likeable and it's good to see a happy ending with Jeremiah Johnson being at peace with an Indian and raising his hand toward him. There's a few bloody moments but a great film with an excellent story and I recommend this film to any movie lover because it's good.
Director Sydney Pollack keeps the film interesting and decent with great characters and cinematography. A true masterpiece.
