Review of Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2012) by George D — 30 Jun 2013
This was a very enjoyable movie that isn't so much hilarious as it is smile worthy. There are a lot of great scenes of dialogue, humanity and engaging examinations of diverse relationships. The relatable characters that make up this tale are all trying to love each other despite vastly different ideologies.
Still the film balances heavy ideas (or maybe just stoner logic that seems heavy) with lofty adventures and a lighthearted approach. I felt the Duplas brothers use of snap zooms and shaky cam to be a bit excessive but it didn't detract from my viewing of the film, but it didn't ad to it either.
The cinematography seemed wayward and without purpose, I don't know what it was trying to convey. Still a great cast and interesting scenes of humanity make this movie a nice afternoon watch to give you a break from CG and explosions.
