Review of Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2012) by Andy P — 09 Jul 2014
The film was enjoyable, but had its problems. First of all I could tell who Sharon's (Susan Sarandon) crush would be. It was very obvious. I also felt that on a whole her storyline didn't have much purpose. I didn't think it really added much. I don't think it really took anything away either. I also didn't really like the camera work. Shaky cam during like dinner scenes is super annoying. How hard is it to like, put it on a stand or something? And I realize the theme was "fate" but some parts I found a little too unbelievable or a little too convenient.
Despite all that, the film is filled with heart. And Jeff (Jason Segel) is a pretty likable guy. I was expecting him to be a stereotypical slacker pothead (which he kind of was in a way)...but I ended feeling like he was more than that. Overall it was cute and quirky.
