Review of Jean de Florette (1986) by Yue T — 10 Jun 2007
This is the most perfectly human movie I have ever seen. How such a simple film can reveal so much about the human condition is unbelievable. It is a morality tale without being didactic, though tragic, yet ultimately inspiring.
Jean de Florette is a film that encourages and convinces you to become an innocent, doomed, hunchback, but with a heart that could beat the hell out of any cynic who dares try to side with obstinate Yves Montand and his vacuous nephew.
