Review of Jean de Florette (1986) by Colm M — 16 Apr 2011
Great epic but simple cinema. Really beautifully rendered tragedy. What would you do to get a piece of land and what would you do to make it work? The little girls face at the end is a piece of classic cinema.
I think there's revenge in the air for the second part. Nearly put me off planting for next year! Land is a cruel mistress and the source of all wealth. Dangerous mix!
