This is one of those mythic tales that sticks with you. When a woman named Florette dies, leaving land that lies potentially fertile above a hidden spring, a father and son conspire to force her idealistic son into failure so they can buy the land.
The lead performances by Gerard Depardieu, Daniel Auteuil and Yves Montand are nothing short of wonderful, and their characters are of the same legendary rank as any out of Dickens or Shakespeare. Wonderful!
