Review of JCVD (2008) by David Jordan H — 28 May 2009
Surprisingly great film!! Not a typical Van Damme movie by any stretch, more like Dog Day Afternoon than anything else. Excellent direction and acting. Yes, I said acting from JCVD! In "The Wrestler" Mickey Rourke inhabits the character to face his demons.
In this movie, JCVD plays himself, and he faces his demons in one incredible scene where he literally rises above the film and talks directly to the viewer. Incredibly powerful and brave coming from someone who is known for being able to do the splits on two chairs! I hope this rejuvinates his career and moves him from the DVD shelf and back into the cinema.
Check this one out, a great find.
