Review of Jaws (1975) by Peter C — 04 Jul 2013
Jaws on the big screen was everything and more I hoped it would be. Terrific old-fashioned storytelling from beginning to end.
Suggest, don't show. And if you do show, do so sparingly.
Minimal dialogue, let the image tell the story and draw the audience in.
Special effects only used for special purposes, not willy nilly.
Three-dimensional characters, whom you believe in and care for.
Brilliant casting. Wonderful score. Intelligent directing. The list goes on...
Just a pity they had to ruin it all and make sequels.
