Review of Jacob's Ladder (1942) by P. P — 30 Jan 2011
Eerie, atmospheric this film still captivated me after 20 years. Tim Robbins is great and you can see New York city in all its seedy splendour before Juliani Disneyed everything all to hell. Many of the effects have been copied ad nauseum since but this is a true original of a horror film.
Worth a second viewing and a treat for first time viewers who like nail biting suspense. Loved the elliptical story structure and the sense of foreboding throughout.
