Review of Jackie (2016) by Anthony C — 25 Jan 2017
I can see why audiences are not as receptive as critics. Sometimes people want to see something about the Kennedy which was never going to be covered in this peice. It really focuses on the mental state of a women in the spotlighting, still of the era of First Wives being silent partners.
This was a women who was very aware of her husbands short comings but without the media we have today, made very purposely decisions to use the media to make a point to whoever ordering the killing of her husband and leave a legacy for what was a very short lived Presidency.
The sound track is the real supporting actor and this is a 4 for me because, the relationship with Bobby Kennedy could have been a bit stronger and the pivotal point when after Lee Harvey was shot, she re-instates the processesion was not impactful enough.
That decision was a clear act of defience and bravery but this did not come accross as strongly as it should have.
