Review of Jackie (2016) by Nathanael R — 28 Aug 2017
Slow, but I enjoyed the slowness. I enjoyed the lingering frames that forced you to analyze Jackie (Natalie Portman) and her body language. They don't tell you what she's thinking. They allude, make you assume and draw your own conclusions.
I'm an observer, so this was very entertaining for me. I also never grew up in the era to have witnessed this event, and I had no idea what Jackie sounded like, so initally I was offput by Portman's performance until I realized that she was fairly accurate in portraying Jackie's breathy, 50s-sitcom tone and speech.
