Review of Jackie (2016) by William James S — 03 Aug 2017
There's no doubting Portman's prowess in portraying such a complex and difficult role. It's likely to not meet many's expectations of how the movie should unfold, but it shouldn't. Kennedy was troubled, no doubt, just as this movie is.
You never get a sense of calm, and are always on the edge of ill-at-ease. The film's score adds to the haunting ambiance. It moves -- precisely how it was designed to. Excellent.
