Hoffman shows a talent for directing fellow actors and bringing out some emotional performances, even in some slightly stagy scenes. Hoffman and Ryan are delightfully awkward and sweet together, and their story in contrast to Ortiz and Rubin-Vega's relationship is a painfully funny tale to watch.
The soundtrack is delightful as well, with just the right tone, it doesn't feel trendy or hip, because it fits. One of the more surprisingly charming efforts I've seen this year.
