Review of A Single Man (2009) by Page L — 18 Dec 2010
Beautiful debut for Tom Ford, who tells the story of George, an English professor in LA, heartbroken by the loss of his partner of 16 years in a tragic car accident. This being 1962, George has to suffer from afar, never having the closure of a service and a funeral, because the relationship is a secret.
It is heartbreak in a beautiful and tragic package. The cinematography allows us to experience the pull beauty still has on George, surprising him in many little ways throughout the day, despite his loss.
