Review of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) by Steve B — 24 Aug 2008
A young plumber with "anger issues" rises to save his schoolmates when nasty beasties attack. A great premise and the build up is solid (Englund is hilarious) but the low-budget origins are evident.
Not so much in the low-fi creature FX which I LOVED, but in the action itself, which wasn't particularly memorable. Just a short string of very similar fight scenes. However it is still great fun and a cracking debut film.
A sequel should hopefully address those issues, but let's make him even MORE angry next time, ay?
