Review of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) by Rodney S — 29 Aug 2009
It's time to spread the cheese!!! Something you'd totally find on the Sci-Fi Channel or a station that had nothing else to play...lolol....Though I must admit that I give it kudos for being different from anything I've seen in a long while, and the acting wasn't half-bad! Even the character of Jack Brooks was fun, deep, and comical.
Robert Englund gave another one of his "good, yet strange" performances; starting out as a humble teacher then later transforming into what looked like a Freddy-version of Chet from Weird Science!!!.
..lolol....It was gross, the creatures were not many, Jack didn't even become an "official" Monster Slayer till towards the end of the movie, it had a fist-full of comedic moments, a small grain of drama, and the creature designs were not too impressive by any means--I would even go as far as saying "Power Rangers-ish".
..But the strange thing is, is that it was loaded with enough action and humor to keep one's attention! I would say it's a "neat little B-flick of a Horror movie" that would be fun to watch with a bucket of popcorn on an evening with nothing to do.
..Something to get a few laughs out of...It's movies like this that remind us to not take life too seriously...lolol.....
