Review of Italian for Beginners (2000) by Melissa A — 21 Apr 2009
The film takes a combined humourous and serious look at a group of people who are trying to cope with difficult life situations and end up attending weekly Italian classes together in the hopes of finding love.
During the meetings, friendships begin to develop as well as romantic interests between characters. I was completely taken aback at first realizing that the movie was totally done with a hand-held video camera, however, being a low-budget Danish film which could have been a disaster, the charm and simplicity of Italian for Beginners was very appealing right to the very end credits.
