Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Cstrang — 01 Sep 2017
Even going into this movie expecting it to be more about the horrors of human nature instead of the horrors of some zombie-plague apocalypse, this movie was difficult to sit through. Not because what I was watching was so uncomfortably horrific, but because nothing really happens in the first hour of the movie or so.
Eventually paranoia does start to play a tangible part in the story, but by then the movie is all but over. It doesn't help that, while the stakes are clearly life and death, the movie never really elaborates on WHY the stakes are life and death.
These characters, especially the teenager and father, act so extremely that they are difficult to relate to or really understand.
