Review of It Comes at Night (2017) by Xxclutchdutchxx — 04 Jan 2020
I have very mixed feelings about this movie. Even with the lackluster ending I enjoyed the ride getting there. The director & writer did a great job with this film making it relatable and believable but it still misses that satisfaction.
It has so much potential if only the strong ideas were capitalized on a little bit more. The only other complaint I have that docks the movie a point is the extremely misleading trailer. It makes you believe there's a creator that only goes bump in the night and that the family never leaves the house for any reason.
It sets up this big scene, what looks like a house full of strangers that keep doing mischievous things but no one knows whose the culprit, when really it never comes close to this standard and only barely scratches the surface.
With that being said, I look forward to hopefully seeing this crew again and what comes of a film once they've perfected their craft.
