Review of It (2017) by Anthony S — 15 Sep 2017
Overall, I thought the movie was very good. Several creepy, scary, and well-done scenes. As well as a good mixture of light-hearted funny dialogue between the "Losers Club" kids. Each of the child actors/actresses were on point. Their characters were both likeable and adorably annoying.
Weakest part of the movie was older teen bullies, adult actors playing the parents, and especially Pennywise the clown. They each have admirable acting performances, but just not to the excellent level as the child character roles. The musical score played during the memorable scenes seemed oddly interesting. Not necessarily "out of place", but just oddly interesting.
Pennywise the clown was somewhat disappointing since he gave a very "one-note" performance. After his initial few appearances, you pretty much knew how he was going to act when he appeared in scenes, so it started to lose it's luster & suspense. Pennywise was definitely creepy, but not as scary and unpredictable as he is portrayed in the novel.
Again, a very good horror movie overall. Looking forward to Part 2.
