Nothing bothers me more about a book based film than the director not understanding what the book is about, and using its catchier and shinier parts to make money. The movie utilizes too many jump-scare tactics, ominous music, to create a fleeting sense of fear.
"It" is supposed to burrow into your mind, amplify your internal fears. It is not just pennywise its a darker evil, its our most innate, unimaginable fear. and this movie did a disservice to the readers and movie goers thinking that a few loud noises and slamming doors would truly frighten them.
