Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by Duncan P — 22 Jun 2018
Surprisingly dark for a modern Western animated feature. It echoes some of the features of excellent, really bleak earlier European films ("The Plague Dogs" in particular comes to mind), with all of the oddball brilliance, style, humour and wit of Anderson's prior "Fantastic Mr.
Fox", but with a sociopolitical undercurrent that has, unfortunately, suddenly become all too poignant. Highly, highly recommended.
