Review of Isle of Dogs (2018) by David S — 12 Apr 2018
I saw this with some friends and I was really excited for it as I'm a fan of director Wes Anderson. I was also a big fan of his previous stop-motion animated film The Fantastic Mr. Fox. That being said, while I enjoyed this film quite a bit, I felt it was not as good as that previous one.
The main reason most likely being that the overall tone of this film is very different and much more dark. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, but it's definitely not as light-hearted as other Wes Anderson films.
The voice actors are all great and I enjoyed trying to match all the great actors to their characters. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Andersons but I would say many of the uninitiated will find it odd.
