Review of Irreversible (2002) by Jennifer M — 21 Dec 2013
This movie blew me away, one of the best movies I have seen in a while. It is not for the squeamish with many difficult to watch scenes and overt sexuality and nudity there is a reason it was never rated.
The things gaspar noe does with the camera I have never seen before and it all works. the reverse chronological order (similar to memento) really works in the context of this story as well. And ooooo the delicious long takes, some of the best you will ever see.
I think what I really like about this film is so many of the scenes, from the intense to the more mundane, seem very real. When most directors would cut away or shorten a scene Noe makes you watch every second.
