Review of Irma la Douce (1963) by Susanna S — 17 Feb 2008
Quite risque for the time, Billy Wilder pushes the envelope again in this screwball comedy about a love affair between a straight cop and a Parisian prostitute. Jack Lemmon is brilliant as always but you can't help but to find MacLaine's character charming, despite her occupational choice.
Pretty Woman, this is not, as the film does not take itself that serious.
