My favourite Sondheim, it's completely enchanting. Bernadette Peters is simply amazing, and it's such an altogether strong cast.
It could easily have ended at the end of Act I, but I like that it gives everyone their final closure. And the darkness of Act II contrasts the first half brilliantly...and Children Will Listen is beautiful!
