I often see movies or plays or read books that are so fantastic that I feel inspired to pick up a pen and try to write something half as good. Then there are works that I see and think, "Why even bother? There is no way I'll ever be able to come anywhere close to that.
" Every single one of Sondheim's shows provoke the latter reaction. The man is a genius. This production is wonderful, as close to perfection as one can get.
